Lake Victoria Fisheries Organization

The EALA Committee on Legal, Rules and Privileges visited LVFO Secretariat in Jinja, Uganda on 11th October 2019

The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Committee on Legal, Rules and Privileges visited Lake Victoria Fisheries Organization (LVFO) Secretariat in Jinja, Uganda on 11th October 2019. The main objectives of their visit were to assess the level of compliance to the protocols and laws of the Community by the East African Community (EAC) Institutions. Members of the committee commended LVFO for registering significant achievements especially on ensuring that fisheries and aquaculture resources within the EAC are sustainably managed and developed for food security, employment and wealth creation. In addition, they commended LVFO on the implementation of EAC Customs Union and Common Market Protocols by ensuring that fish and fisheries products are traded across the borders with ease. They pledged their support in ensuring that the core mandates of the Organization are fully implemented for the benefits of the East Africa citizens.
